OUR Mission

Black College Experience mission is to bring exposure to Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletics. In the course of media exposure through radio, social media, and video streaming, Black College Experience also raises funds to award scholarships to students who are currently enrolled or plan on attending HBCU's.

kEISHA J. KELLEY

Host/Sideline Reporter

Keisha J Kelley is a 2003 graduate of Southern University A&M College and a 2019 graduate of University of Phoenix, where she obtained a Master of Business Administration. She developed her passion for sports in the early 2000s when she was a member of the game day fan interaction team for now defunct NBDL team, Huntsville Flight. Keisha soon after started volunteering with The Amobi Okoye Foundation during the summer where she assisted with registration for summer football camps for the community. In 2011, Keisha relocated to Atlanta GA, where she began a short stint with a sports radio station. Kelley also became a high school football scout under Heritage Management for a brief period. In 2014, Kellz, as she is referred to on radio, returned to radio, as she began a career with PQ Sports radio, where she joined multiple co hosts for a Wednesday night weekly sports show. In 2015, she hosted PQ Sports Radio, as well as co-hosted Double Coverage Divas on Sunday evenings at 7pm with Talk2me Sports Radio. Keisha has also written several articles that were published for Double G Sports and The African American Athlete. In 2016, Keisha founded Black College Experience, the sports podcast that brings positive exposure to athletes at HBCUs, because of the lack of positive news media or coverage HBCUs receive. Her first co host, Crystal Bennett, is a graduate of FAMU. Through the loss of her father, a change of co host, Keisha united with Mississippi Valley State University graduate, Derrick Thomas, who is her current co host, living in Baton Rouge. Kelley, also worked with Rodney Bryant on a Facebook Live sports segment titled: Still Brewing. Black College Experience has covered many events including, the Black College Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement, the televised, Bayou Classic, MEAC/SWAC Challenge, 

Magic City Classic, Gulf Coast Challenge, HBCU Spirit of America Bowl,Tee Up Atl, National Tennis Championship, NBPA Top 50 Players from SIAC/SWAC as well as media days, career days, etc. Keisha also serves as a sport mentor with GladiatHers Sports.

Derrick thomas

Co Host/ Producer

Derrick Thomas is a native of Jackson, MS. He is a 2002 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University and member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Derrick is an avid sports fan and over the years his passion for sports continued to grow. If you have ever watched sports with Derrick, you know he will yell at the TV like the coaches can hear him, as his mom would say. Derrick joined Black College Experience in 2016 after meeting founder, Keisha Kelley. They realized they both had a similar passion for HBCU sports and the partnership began. Derrick’s favorite sports teams are: The Callaway Chargers, Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
